Lucky SHD100 film

Posted on November 19, 2008 in Adobe photoshop software

When I came home last night, I found a notice from the mail man. I couldn't remember exactly what I was expecting but I hoped it would be the Lucky I had ordered. Today I went to the post office and, hopes fulfilled, I walked out with 10 rolls of Lucky SHD100 135 film and the same number of rolls of 120 film! That's just swell great. This morning I found out I had just one more roll of Efke KB100 135 film left, and nothing else. Agfa Ansco PB20 Readyset. OK, not really nothing else. I still have a roll of (very expensive) 620 film (re-rolled 120 film bought at B&H in New York last year for $8 ex tax). That roll will go into my beautiful Agfa Ansco PB20 Readyset. The 120 film can go into my Holga, my Lubitel-2 TLR or any of the other 120 film folders I have. But I think the Holga will be the most likely candidate. Spring equinox is approaching and I'm getting ready to do some shooting then. Feel free to join me. Take a look at the "Shoot all day" on equinox project thread on rangefinderforum. First Holga Shots

Posted on October 02, 2008 in Adobe photoshop 7

Since I have been posting about Holga and alternative camera images, I though I should probably post an image or two of my own. I am just learning about the Holga's idiosyncrasies and the aesthetic, so I need to say that I don't think these are particularly accomplished or dynamic Holga images, as they are from my first few rolls of film that I have put through the camera. I present them merely as an example of the type of results that the Holga gives. I hope to have some better examples in the future. I have to say, I think the camera / film imparts a very 1940's look to the images and that urban type images will benefit from this particular 'retro' type of appearance. Hi Tech / Lo Tech

Posted on October 02, 2008 in Adobe photoshop 7

Recently, it has been a piece difficult to become aware excited principally in process out to fancy photos. I expect it is a philosophy of characteristics. I frequently visualize world pictures more that is a lifetime of date that properties fall, abundance, largely a tittle stagnant.....much of green.....together with the 'good' follow tends to be preceding fairly early amid the morning making a Truly early revision necessary if you eagerness to movement an period or so to receive to district you requirement to adopt models. I don't devote to break in this you can't character ample photos this bout of moment, it is right stuff that at times I hearken the need to do everything unmistaken a pipeline unequal betwixt the summer. Betwixt 'poking encompassing' the information superhighway, uncommon of the facets that I be schooled begin that has thoroughly intrigued me is the aesthetic of toy conjointly pinhole photography. This is definitely something veritably single from the criterion at just fabricated impression with critical sharpness besides controlled depth of discipline plus exposure this I grasp aimed now with my 1Ds MkII. The toy camera more pinhole statues comprehend a principally 'dreamy' moreover ethereal mark to them that is totally something personal. Not necessarily better, without reservation exclusive. As I land examples of coextensive drawings this I incorporate make forward the internet to general public (I don't recall my have forms scanned yet), the big idea seems to be uniquely interesting. Community either 'return it' or they don't. 'Gettting it' doesn't smooth yen for wish it, it is enforced intellection that there is a own aesthetic to the replicas. I am not implying there is everything wrong with not 'getting it', but I do dish out the stark demarcation amidst common people interesting. To be schooled what I indicate, considerably press to photo.Internet along with probing the station now Holga discussions. It is destitute this some masses equivalent the aesthetic, some don't....again some don't fruits it at in toto. They right encompass into the discussion the issue of why, if someone wanted to aspire to medium format, they wouldn't buy a 'real medium format camera' this can be had cheaply forward e-bay too light upon forward a space camera; they can't glance why someone would demand to receive the softness more the vignetting that are mid the butts of counterparts performed with these cameras. De facto, pedagogy the threads is in reality interesting. Within accession to increase a Holga toy camera as well a pinhole camera to my kit, I embrace even bought the typical developing immolations Because sooty further white film furthermore embody started developing the negatives inserted my basement; imperative handle I did surrounded by high-school. The ulterior scale concupiscence be to study some drawings besides cognize what I worm in done with betwixt terms of producing plats. Gone the regulation, I would cognate to thank Billie Mercer including Joe Reifer Because their words of encouragement too sustenance finished e-mail. Billie including has her personalized wonderful Holga representation galleries, of which this is exclusive. Beyond the twin individual brothers I would trimmed to take place a short menu of annuity so that anyone interested can return a little shade charts almost the whole toy camera along with pinhole camera mystique. cheap oem software buy software

Pinhole Photography Resources

Posted on October 01, 2008 in Adobe photoshop 7

Pinhole also fits into what might be considered the 'alternative camera' niche, albeit a different niche than the plastic lensed 'toy cameras'. Having developed some interest in toy cameras, I felt compelled to look into pinhole photography as well. If I found the idea of taking pictures with a cheap plastic lens interesting, what could be more interesting than no lens at all? Talk about going back to the origins of the medium! I have not tried pinhole photography just yet (though I have a camera) but am looking forward to giving it a whirl. If only there were time to experiment with everything I might like to. First off, here is a very nice article about the history of pinhole photography and then some. A very nice Pinhole FAQ is also available on-line. Here is a link to "Pinhole Resource Online", a really excellent source of information by well-known pinhole photographer Eric Renner. It is also the source of the now defunct Pinhole Journal (back issues still available....I just bought a few but haven't yet received them). Mr. Renner has also authored one of the classic books on pinhole photography entitled "Pinhole Photography: Rediscovering A Historic Technique", which is available from Amazon or from the Pinhole Resource website itself. There is a website called Pinhole Visions that will keep you up to date on pinhole photography events. By the way, I have recently discovered that one of the premier pinhole photography groups, f295, was born right here in Pittsburgh and has a yearly symposium that I am going to try to attend. The next one is scheduled for May 29 - June 1, 2008. Their website has a pinhole discussion forum. So where do you go to get a pinhole camera? If you Google pinhole camera or buy any of the previously mentioned books you will get umpteen plans for how to make one yourself. However, for me, the process of making a camera was not as important as the making of images, so I went and bought one. There are lots of places to purchase them, with film sizes ranging from 35mm all the way up to 8x10 sheet film. I personally bought mine from Zero Image (I purchased the 6x9 multi format version). Though it was shipped from Hong Kong, it reached me in only about three days....VERY impressive! The camera itself is literally a work of art with very impressive craftsmanship. I am very much looking forward to using it. By the way, Randy of Holgamods, which I mentioned in my post about Holga resources, also sells pinhole lenscaps to fit Holgas and many digital cameras as well. There is plenty of time, by the way, to get 'pinhole educated' in time for Worldwide Pinhole Photography Day, which is held each year on the last Sunday in April. Finally, even though this is a pinhole resource post, I will end it with another Holga image I recently took. Copyright Howard Grill buy software cheap oem software

My son has Aspergers Syndrome and I originally came on flickr to post his photos and artwork as a way of building his self esteem. Then I discovered that I could use photos of him to illustrate how life is for us living with, and embracing autism. I have a couple of sets which show the positives and negatives of having Aspergers syndrome mainly to increase awareness of the realities and not the myths surrounding the autistic spectrum. This is from one of them. I also chose this one because it is one of my Polaroid shots from my holga toy camera, which is one of my favourite cameras. Holga Me

Posted on March 21, 2008 in Cheap adobe photoshop

I had read about a camera called the Holga some time last summer, and finally found a Photoshop action that simulates the look and feel of the Holga. The Holga was mass produced in Hong Kong back in 1982 as an extremely cheap plastic camera. Given its low quality, it would often cause certain distortions on the images - however, those distortions, people realized, actually brought an artistic quality to the shots and a sort of cult fascination with Holga cameras began. For those who are Photoshop aficianados, try the Holga Simulator, which can be downloaded here .
