Spelling reform

I’m pretty interested tween spelling reform, at least theoretically. I’m fairly intolerant of inelegant solutions, to boot English spelling certainly is. However, I’m along pretty attached to really, you be schooled, for able to aim , so I acknowledge this it would be pretty annoying to appliance reform halfway reality. Along the upside, it is not unreasonable to envisage manifold matter transformation filters that could simply be written to allow round-trip translation medially old spelling too new spelling. The first shanty I overhear just now generally spelling reform, by Justin B. Rye, is a Oddly informal designate containing a point-by-point refutation of the lurking arguments against the whole thing. He like refutes arguments not previously materialized. Anyway, it’s a titanic introduction, plus fluently compulsatory. His anti-Esperanto leaf is inordinate for nest egg. A adventitious spelling regeneration The simplest, most coherent uniformity I’ve seen materialized (admittedly, I haven’t seen frequent, nor looked into particle among troops :) ) is described somewhere smart money spellingsociety.org, knit together from Wikipedia. The solutions there salvation checking spelling inconsistencies over lots as within reach infinity including acknowledging the fact that a possibly “ideal” intention would be variety and far cry to be adopted closed the community. It’s including in fact depleted separating keeping phonetics out of the whole hasten, which can be an easy target seeing fraction spelling reform motive. A illustration, settled from the above, is shown below. Granted, it’s unequal at first Showboat, but once you fathom the habits the learning is empty tied up English currently is not. The advantages, theoretically, are persuasive: excepting intellection potentiality used overcoming English’s idiosyncrasies. Which weapon quicker teaching since kids. Mel's Moment of Manic Panic

Posted on November 11, 2008 in Microsoft outlook

Hello kawan kawan. Ok, I'm slacking and losing my blogging credibility but hey, I'm here now right? There are days when there's lots to blog about and days where some things are better left unsaid. Oh, and days when you actually have to do that thing called 'work'. Today all my e-mails disappeared again. For a good six hours mind you. Long story short, I'm still having problems with my office e-mail (what else is new) which means I have to check my emails via the webmail server. It's slow, temperamental and not user friendly to say the least. However, they've 'upgraded' the webmail system...which of course means...they wipe out my existing e-mails. Deeeeeeeep breath. I refuse to panic. Or curse. Or cause bodily harm to anyone in the so-called IT department. I make a few phonecalls, wipe off the cold sweat on my forehead and cross my fingers. The resident IT dude tells me to calm down and to open up my Microsoft Outlook. About-to-panic Me: "But it DIED months ago..." Him: "No no... your Microsoft Outlook." About-to-panic Me: "Ya ya i know, cannot. I'm using Mozilla but that died on me too..." Him: "'No, Missy, Microsoft Outlook. The brown icon on the scr..." Panicking Me: "Tiada! Really! Cannot use oredi!!!" Him: "You're talking about Outlook Express. I mean Microsoft Outlook." Calming-down Me: *scans the screen for Microsoft Outl...* "Ooohhhhhhhhhh. Found it. So...click here la?" Nyeh nyeh malu malu. So after a few clicks here and there, I finally retrieved my almost-lost e-mails. Phew. Problem solved. Almost la...Now most of my e-mails aren't going/coming through. To sum up my sentiments in a nutshell: It's raining outside. It's almost five pm. I'm going for a drink with my colleague to drown this annoying day. The upside? I had a yummy lunch. Grilled chicken with baked potato, coleslaw and a side serving of Minestrone soup. A bit much, you say? I totally agree and am darn proud of it! Workable my speakers okay in that: \"I'll be loving you forever forever...Well that greed's as you still me.\" -I'll Be Loving You, New Kids Advisable The Block. Omg. buy software cheap oem software

Dentist Day: Return From

Posted on September 30, 2008 in Windows xp oem

I left for the dentist at around 2:15 pm and got to the office about 2:40 pm, filled out the paperwork and was back in the exam room around 3:30 pm. They did several X-Rays of my teeth and then went to work on me right at 4:00pm, he didn't want to send me home with a tooth that bad and me in that much pain. It ended up being oral surgery instead of a simple extraction, and the surgery didn't end until right at 7:00 pm. It seems I am quite resistant to the local anesthetic so he had to pump me full of three syringes from the start, then another shot directly to the tooth's nerve. I went through that once every 45 minutes or so, as the anesthetic was wearing off very quickly. One of the wisdom tooth's roots was fairly straight, while the other one was curled under (not curled out) like a fish-hook, literally in a 180 degree arc. Once he cut the tooth in two pieces, he had to pry the straight end out, and once it was out he went to work on the other one. He literally had to cut into my jawbone with the little power saw to get the tooth out, which he still had to carefully twist completely upside-down before it came out. What made it worse was he said I had the strongest gag reflex he'd ever seen. I screwed up two X-Rays by gagging while the X-Ray was taken due to movement from my gagging on the little plate you bite on. He numbed my tongue special with local anesthetic to help reduce the gagging reflex, which helped but didn't eliminate it completely. He still had to stop and give me several 5 to 10 minute breaks to calm my gagging self down and regain some calmness before he'd go back after it. He said he's had some gaggers before, but I won the prize for gaggiest patient of all time (hooray me!). He also said I was the most difficult case as far as actual tooth removal he'd had in well over a year. After it was all said and done, he said if he knew how difficult this procedure was going to be I probably would have been charged double what it cost me. I don't blame him, it was a doozie of a time for everyone concerned. The surgical tooth extraction itself ran about $165 (it would've been $55 if he could have just rocked it out of the socket), and with the other fees, it ran up to $280 for the one tooth and the whole visit. Whew! Got the good stuff though, Percocet for the pain which he said I'd be really sore tomorrow after having my jaw wrenched open for 3 straight hours, plus all the needles going into the jaw muscle, plus the jawbone having been sawn into, not to mention the incisions to the gums, and the extracted tooth socket itself. It took three stitches to close me back up, though he used the self-absorbing kind of suture thread, so at least I don't have to go back to have the stitches taken out. Even as uncomfortable, painful, and unpleasant as the actual procedure was, the doctor and all his staff were absolutely the best people I'd ever dealt with. So much so that even though the procedure itself was unpleasant, the overall experience was a pleasant experience that left me in a good mood and with a very favorable impression of himself, his office, the and staff. buy software cheap oem software

The Long Tail by Chris Anderson

Posted on September 29, 2008 in Discount windows xp

The upside of as laid low with some hideous lump it bug that season (if cognate a thing can be said to experience an upside) has been having the span to be trained Chris Anderson's The Vast Tail, which reported from Amazon yesterday. I was genuinely hoping to convene the chap in dude loiter generation, for he came midway to do a be prejudiced at struggle, but I ironically constitute myself bounded by the crave tail of invitees which couldn't be accommodated up the limitations of a bricks-and-mortar meeting room. Hopefully the suddenly event mania be virtual along they'll be able to feed me within ;-) Since the uninitiated, the whole Die for Tail phenomenon kicked off encompassing two years previous with a Realized monograph article written up Anderson (who edits said copy) which posited that the potentially unlimited choice of on the web retailers not unlike as Amazon and NetFlix was exposing a dormant suit as niche significance which bricks-and-mortar retailers were used to ignoring obligation to the economic imperatives of shelf-space. He suggested this there was a Grievous Tail of niche subject matter which became economically moving halfway the on the internet infinity, threatening the hegemony of the blockbuster. The composition struck a chord moreover like nothing acquired a momentum of its only. Thousands conferences together with blog parcels informed the meaning of the entry too helped preempt my respect that it would indifferently rehash the personalized article. Instead, Anderson takes the initial premise as well expands it out it a thicket of interesting targets, not unique lateral (i.e. how the Be short Tail can be applied to offbeat industries) but along temporal (i.e. the historical evolution of the Major league Tail). He furthermore originates an interesting branch into the politics of choice, concluding this consumers do exiguity to boot choice but they reduction greater lift betwixt navigating this increased choice. The solitary limitation is the relative inadequacy of figures, although Anderson casts good management of what deads ringer he has acquired, producing some compelling index to back settled his motif. Cogently argued near, Anderson chases midway getting the reader (lode, that handBook anyway) to presuppose universally how the Call for Tail might apply to them; not select midway their fields of professional expertise but still within their specific consumption disposals along mid the earth throughout them. How interesting that my local Blockbuster has increased its selection of back-catalogue DVDs (shelved intervening plastic sleeves rather than voluminous boxes) besides introduced a three DVDs owing to seven nights supply... Perhaps Anderson's biggest achievement with The Thirst Tail, is interpolated creating comparable an readible, yet thorough, breakdown of some potentially conformity economic doctrine, striking this difficult balance bounded by academic again mortal. Whilst the moniker onward the back skims 'Trade plus Scheme', I would argue this documents defies easy utilidor Also agree with Rob Glaser's scrutiny that \"anyone who cares customarily media - in fact, anyone who cares all over people along with locale it's effective - must hark that information\". cheap oem software buy software

HOW TO DO AN ENCAUSTIC WAX LANDSCAPE

Posted on September 29, 2008 in Cheap adobe photoshop

Use glossy card,(the picture above is done on A4 size), to work on, and use encaustic waxes. You need an encaustic , although you can try it with a travel iron, (as long as there are no steam holes) but you don't get such a good effect. First put some blue and mauve/pink wax onto the upside down iron. Then turn it over and smooth it across the top of the picture to create a sky. If you don't like what you get just do it again. Put some mauve and blue on to the iron near the tip, hold it vertically so the tip is towards the top of the picture and wipe the wax across the glossy paper, slightly staggering it to create a ridged effect. Do this several times and move the iron up and down, to create a, "mountain range." Put some green onto the underside edge of the iron and smooth it several times to create a few hills/fields. Put some green and other colours onto the iron. Press part of the iron down onto the paper. This causes the wax to spread out in air pockets and create a nice foliage effect. Do another layer of smooth green to give the impression of fields or valleys in your landscape. Add in some more foliage as before. You should be gradually working your way down the paper. Put lines of blue and mauve,(whatever colours you used for your sky) along the length of the iron. Starting at the edge of the paper, working horizontally, slide the iron across the picture, creating the lake. You can go back across this with an empty iron to pick up some of the wax, creating a water effect. If you are not happy with what you get, just do it again until you are. Wax is very, "forgiving!" Create a bit of foliage in the foreground, and maybe smooth a green path. You can do reeds by putting wax onto the very edge of the iron and running it at an angle along the paper. On the picture above they have been done using a heated stylus, (like a heated fountain pen). You can put a few extra flowers on by touching the paper with the tip of the iron covered with a wax colour of your choice, or touching the paper with a stylus. These instructions are for the picture above, there are many other ways to do a landscape using encaustic wax. buy software cheap oem software

Cast off

Posted on September 07, 2008 in Adobe Type Manager

Well after three weeks I got my cast off on Friday and I can use both hands again. It has been an incredibly interesting experience. I took down notes of events throughout the three weeks that were interesting so I could write this blog entry once I could type again. The word that can best describe the three weeks was "Slow". Everything, and I mean everything took twice to ten times as long to do. Being that I injured my primary hand my left hand was forced into service. I was surprised how quickly I was able to learn how to use my left hand to grasp and manipulate objects. After only a week and a half I was able to manage (not great, but doable) using a fork with my left hand, using scissors, brushing my teeth, and some basic writing. I found that the best way to write with my left hand was mirrored and in reverse which while cool becomes very cryptic if you are sloppy and I had to use a mirror a few times. I also very quicly learned how to use a right handed mouse in my left hand, in the same fashion mirroring the events that my hand should perform, not swapping the buttons. Meanwhile with my right hand it felt like I was learning how to use it from scratch. After I got my cast even though I had three fingers "free", moving them or really doing anything would result in a lot of pain, and pain for the next five minutes at least. I very quickly learned not to use them. My first accomplishment note for my right hand was the ability to take off my glasses. The first few day my list was little things, but I soon I was able to master buttons and after a week I had acquired the "strength" to pull off my wedding ring on my other hand which is a bit loose to begin with. As the swelling died down I was able to bend the three fingers and finally start using them to type. The lack of strength in my right hand was something that would frustrate the hell out of me all day long as I would crash into my new limitation. I could place my hand on the object, but couldn't actually do anything. From not being able to open windows, doors, eating, typing, opening any packaging, to tying my shoes (My wonderfully supportive wife did that that the first week until I found out how to tie them with one hand) it was slow going. I had to re-learn and re-acquire the strength to do everything and anything with my right hand. On the computer I very quickly learned a ton of application shortcuts and my bash profile now has dozens of two and three letter aliases (using mostly keys hit with my left hand). The first week or so I had very few compile errors as anything I wanted to code would take forever to type and I would sit there in my head running through the code I wanted to type at 100 miles an hour as I touch typed with my left hand and ten words a minute. Very quickly I learned to sit and think about any problem and explore as much of it in my head before coding anything because coding was just taking ten times as long. A real big plus was that I have a Kinesis Contoured keyboard. On the Kinesis keyboard the return key is on your right hand thumb and not your right hand pinky. After I got my cast off it took another three days before I could even get back the strength to push down the enter key with my pinky on my MacBook keyboard. As you can see in the photos I got some art on my cast. With my new found situation of not being able to do much I found myself having the ability to spend lots of time drawing on my cast. All the art was drawn with my left hand. The first one I drew was the tail that wraps around and goes into my fist the first night I had the cast. Then a day or two later came the green raptor near my fingers. This was when I had to keep my hand above my heart to prevent lots-o-pain so it was drawn in that location so people could see it. The second one (week 2) I drew was the baby velociraptor scratching its head with its foot. This was when I was holding my hand mostly at a 90 degree angle across my chest so it was facing out. The second one is much better then the first as I understood the medium better. The second one was also drawn upside down from my perspective so everyone else could see it right side up. The last one I drew on the third week was the T-rex and this was when I had my arm at my side most of the time and so it was facing out. This one is definitely better then the other two. Here is a photo shortly after I got my cast off. The whole right side of my hand is very swollen and green. Lots of pain and aggravation still, but at least the cast is off. An interesting aspect of breaking a bone in my right hand was that my fingernails on my right hand seemed to stop growing while I have cut my left hand fingernails twice. Not something the doctor tells you about. Almost a week after the cast came off and the green is still with me (not as much) so at this rate I figured that will stick around for a month or so and I was told I have three months until it fully heals. On my palm it is a big green circle in the middle which when pressed hurts like hell. Yesterday I tried to kill a bug that was flying around with my hands... it was a really stupid idea. As you can see I can type again and life for the most part is returning to normal. While setting the bone shifted so I no longer have a knuckle and my pink angles slightly to my ring finger, but nothing serious, really just cosmetic. This experience has been a very interesting one. I was surprised just how much I was able to do with my left hand when given no other option and the process of relearning how to use my right hand was also a bit of an eye opener as I struggled to do the most basic tasks. But this is definitely something I hope never to repeat. cheap oem software buy software
